JEFF BECKER

It all started with drawing Marvel Comics and Mortal Kombat characters as a kid, but graffiti in high school was the gas that was thrown on the artistic interest that I was born with. After years of drawing distorted, ill proportioned graffiti characters; college introduced me to the more mature and advanced ways to represent a figure during art history sessions. The work of historical masters such as Degas and Rubens captivated me, and impressed me more than any graffiti style ever could. From then on, my artistic development was centered around studying anatomy; sketching, oil painting and focusing on color value, composition, and the human form as my subject matter. During this time I discovered a true understanding of illustration and conceptual art, realising what I wanted to do with my art and my life.

Video game and movie concept art introduced me to Photoshop and a Wacom Tablet and that’s what it’s been for me ever since. I usually start my illustrations with paper and pencil, then through the scanner they go. I’ve been doing digital painting for the past year - both content and overwhelmed with the sheer potential of this medium. I push myself everyday; drawing as much as I can with aspirations to become successful in the world of illustration and concept art.
