FAN ART - SCULPTING A DARATHIA

Ashley Hunt is currently studying a Graphic Design HND at New College Nottingham, England. Having read The Enemy's Son he decided to create a Darathia using modelling clay, standard acrylics and making use of the helpful tutorials listed below.

After a wire frame (armature) is fastened to a board the modelling clay is applied and carefully sculpted. Finer details are added using appropriate modelling tools to create texture.

Dry brushing is a technique commonly used by modelmakers. Here you can see the details highlighted by a lighter tone that only applies itself to exposed surface texture. The result is both simple and effective.
